Guilt.

Writing is a difficult thing to control.  If you're a writer, I'm guessing you've had this experience.  You get an idea and run with it, only to find yourself smashing your nose into a brick wall.  Sometimes, projects go smoothly until completion and follow a schedule, but it's rare.  VERY RARE.   Sometimes being a writer makes you feel flaky-- like you can't finish anything. I'm curious if I'm alone in this feeling.

  1. not alone at all. i just tossed the 90 pages of my first novel i had written on to the back burner in favor of diving into some more traditional fiction. it's actually freeing though, to move away from a project that had me banging my face against a wall and on to something that is flowing freely and easily. i love it.

  2. Thank you! Good to hear my frustrations are not unfounded. Wow- that's a big thing to throw away a chunk of creation like that. i've done it several times! But you are right...There is something freeing about the clean slate and the new project that is--the thrill of writing.
